Something We Can’t Be Separated From

DSCF0539 “Neither death nor life,

neither angels nor demons,

neither the present nor the future,

nor any powers,

neither height nor depth,

nor anything else in all creation,

will be able to separate us from the

love of God

that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)

I saw this verse on a bookmark a couple of days ago, and it stood out to me that it’s not just the presence of God we can’t be separated from, it’s the love of God. David asks “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.” (Psalm 139:7-9). It’s reassuring to know that wherever we are, God is with us, but to know that no matter what–no matter what trials or temptations or sins we face–that God’s love is with me…That’s a comfort and encouragement beyond expression.
